Maintenance Supervisor Job at Lamart Corporation, Clifton, NJ

  • Lamart Corporation
  • Clifton, NJ

Job Description

Position Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Maintenance Supervisor to lead our Maintenance Team in a high-volume coating, laminating, and converting manufacturing facility.

This is a working supervisory position requiring strong electro-mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills. The Maintenance Supervisor will report directly to the Engineering Manager and supervise a team of Maintenance Technicians. Working alongside the team, the Maintenance Supervisor will provide daily direction, prioritize maintenance activities, respond to equipment breakdowns, and improve equipment reliability.

The successful candidate will combine strong technical skills with the ability to lead, develop, and hold a maintenance team accountable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide daily leadership and direction to Maintenance Technicians.
  • Prioritize maintenance activities based on production needs, equipment condition, safety, and available resources.
  • Work hands-on with technicians to troubleshoot and repair production equipment.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, motor, drive, sensor, and control-system issues.
  • Support maintenance of coating, laminating, converting, web-handling, winding/unwinding, drying, and related process equipment.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities with Production, Engineering, and outside vendors.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and work orders using the company’s maintenance management system.
  • Ensure full compliance with OSHA and company safety policies, including proper Lockout/Tagout procedures, Pre-Job Briefs and Integrated Risk Assessments.
  • Train, coach, and develop Maintenance Technicians through hands-on instruction and cross-training.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two or more years of supervisory experience.
  • Five or more years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong electro-mechanical troubleshooting and repair experience.
  • Experience with industrial electrical systems, motors, drives, sensors, controls, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and equipment manuals.
  • Experience implementing preventive maintenance programs.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability and willingness to work hands-on with tools and equipment.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong computer skills and experience using Microsoft Suite.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in coating, laminating, converting, printing, or other continuous-process manufacturing.
  • Experience with AC/DC drives and motor controls.
  • Experience in installing electrical power and control circuits.
  • Ability to reference and interpret National Electric Code, determine required fuse, breaker, conduit and wire size per code.
  • Knowledge of predictive maintenance and reliability practices.
  • Experience with CMMS maintenance systems.
  • Experience with Combustion Systems.
  • Technical training or certification in electrical, mechanical, or industrial maintenance.

What We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate is a working maintenance leader who enjoys being on the manufacturing floor and solving problems. You should be comfortable troubleshooting a machine, helping a technician make a repair, deciding what needs to be done next, and then looking for ways to prevent the problem from happening again.

This position is ideal for an experienced Maintenance Lead, Lead Technician, or Maintenance Supervisor who wants to combine hands-on technical work with leadership and responsibility for improving the overall maintenance operation.

Physical & Work Environment

  • Work in a manufacturing environment around operating machinery.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, kneel, and work in various equipment locations.
  • Ability to safely use hand and power tools.
  • Ability to work from ladders and elevated platforms when required.
  • Ability to lift and handle maintenance-related components and materials.
  • Ability to work required shifts, overtime, weekends, or emergency call-ins as needed.

We are looking for someone who can lead from the floor—someone who can troubleshoot the problem, help fix it, lead the team, and improve the process.
